CT600 preparation
Preparing the company return from the agreed accounts and supporting tax information.
Practical corporation tax support from our Ruislip base, with the work and fees agreed around your needs.

Corporation Tax is a tax on company profits, calculated using tax rules rather than simply applying a rate to the profit shown in the accounts. A Company Tax Return normally includes the CT600, accounts and a tax computation. Angel Accountancy helps limited companies organise those documents and understand the tax due.
This service is for trading limited companies, companies preparing a first tax return, and directors reviewing losses, capital expenditure or related companies. Tell us if the business has investments, overseas transactions, a group structure or an HMRC enquiry, as those facts may change the work required.
Discuss Your Requirements
The services below can form part of an agreed engagement. We confirm the work, responsibilities and fees before starting.
Preparing the company return from the agreed accounts and supporting tax information.
Reconciling accounting profit to taxable profit, including relevant adjustments and reliefs.
Considering the appropriate treatment of qualifying assets and the evidence needed for allowances.
Reviewing available company losses and discussing the relevant restrictions and claims.
Explaining the calculated liability and payment timetable, including whether instalment rules need consideration.
Presenting the return for approval and completing the agreed filing through suitable software.
The profit in your annual accounts is the starting point for the tax computation. Some recorded costs require adjustment, while qualifying capital allowances or losses may change the amount subject to tax. Director transactions, entertaining costs, asset sales and non-trading income can need particular attention. Keeping the accounts and tax computation consistent makes it easier to explain how the final liability was reached.
For ordinary non-ring-fence profits in the year beginning 1 April 2026, the small profits rate is 19% and the main rate is 25%. The usual profit limits are £50,000 and £250,000, with marginal relief potentially available between them. Those limits are reduced for short periods and associated companies. Some companies do not qualify for the small profits rate, so the headline rates alone are not enough to determine a liability.
For a company outside the instalment-payment rules, Corporation Tax is normally due nine months and one day after the end of its accounting period. The Company Tax Return is normally due within 12 months. A company may therefore need to pay before its return is filed. Larger companies can have earlier instalment deadlines. First accounting periods and changes in year end require a separate check.
Keep purchase invoices and finance documents for equipment, and retain a clear explanation of any transactions outside normal trading. R&D relief is not available simply because a business has developed a product or software. The scientific or technological advance, uncertainty, qualifying costs and procedural requirements all need assessment. We discuss the relevant work and any specialist support before assuming a claim is appropriate.
Bring approved or draft accounts, the trial balance, previous CT600 returns, tax computations, asset purchases and disposals, loan agreements, ownership details and information about associated companies. Include any losses carried forward, HMRC notices and records supporting potential relief claims.

We check trading dates, accounting periods, earlier returns and the accounts being used.
We review expenses, assets, losses and significant transactions and raise questions where evidence is needed.
We explain the result, obtain approval and submit the agreed return, keeping payment responsibilities clear.
